Welcome!

The Musicians Union Local 77 is a labor union for professional musicians. Our goal is to improve the economic status, social position and general welfare of our members.

Membership is open to all musicians and vocalists who work part-time or full-time in pop, rock, country, jazz, classical, folk or other areas of music making. We are affiliated with the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada (AFM).

The Musicians Union Local 77 represents and protects its members in every field of professional musical activity. We establish minimum wage scales and working conditions for local casual employment and we bargain collectively with local employers. We also provide various benefits and services for our members who are not working under collective bargaining agreements.

The American Federation of Musicians of the United States & Canada (AFM) negotiates both international and local contracts and enforces employer observance of wage scales and working conditions, fringe benefits and overtime work. While local unions deal with most matters within their own jurisdiction, the International Union bargains collectively for all members employed in traveling musical productions, and electronic media work such as network radio and TV, videotape, educational TV, music videos, theatrical motion pictures, TV films, commercials, phonograph records, cable and pay TV, and documentary films, to name a few.
